Hialeah Hospital Celebrates National Wound Care Awareness Week

Feb 17, 2020

Hialeah, Fla. (May 29, 2015) – The team at Hialeah Hospital’s Center for Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine is working to promote the importance of treating chronic wounds, which affect millions of people in the United States.

The second annual Wound Care Awareness Week is being held from June 1-5. Program directors, community education specialists, and Wound Care Center consultants from across the nation will conduct internal awareness campaigns with physicians and staff to educate individuals on the importance of proper wound care.

“Wound Care Awareness Week helps us educate the public that, left untreated, chronic wounds can lead to serious problems, including amputation of the affected limb,” said Ben A. Rodriguez, CEO of Hialeah Hospital.

Led by medical director Robert J. Snyder, DPM, MSc, CWS, Hialeah Hospital’s Center for Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine treats patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections, radiation injuries to soft tissue and bone, compromised skin grafts and flaps, and other chronic wounds that have not healed after 30 days. The center offers patients advanced treatment options such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy and bioengineered skin substitutes.

“As part of our commitment to providing high quality medical care, Dr. Snyder and his team continuously work to heal patients’ wounds as quickly as possible,” added Rodriguez.

Hialeah Hospital’s sister hospitals, North Shore Medical Center, Florida Medical Center - a campus of North Shore, and Palmetto General Hospital also offer wound care treatment in the area.
