HIALEAH, FL -- On Nov. 12, Hialeah Hospital unveiled its new $12 million state-of-the-art operating room suites with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and dedication to long time physicians and surgeons.
The 378-bed acute care hospital has built a new OR amily waiting area and consultation room. The new OR features nine operating suites, 12 new recovery rooms and eight pre-operative rooms.
Mayors from City of Hialeah (Mayor Julio Robiana), Hialeah Gardens (Mayor Yioset De La Cruz) and Doral (Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez) presented proclamations to Hialeah Hospital.
Along with the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, key Surgeons who have been with Hialeah Hospital for more than 15 years were acknowledged for their service by being named on a plaque that will be displayed by the new waiting area.
Refreshments were served and guests enjoyed live entertainment and tours of the newly renovated OR.

Guests were also able to tour the new Colon & Rectal Institute, headed by Medical Director Roger K. Pons, MD, FACS, FASCRS.
Dr Pons is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). He is a fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Pons received his M.D. from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
