New Chief Nursing Officer

Lourdes Camps, R.N., has been appointed Hialeah's chief nursing officer.

As a member of the administrative team, Camps' responsibilities include operational oversight of nursing, quality management and recruitment and retention.

Camps began working at Hialeah Hospital more than 20 years ago as an assistant head nurse in the hemodialysis unit and has served in several nursing and administrative positions since, most recently as director of nursing.

Camps received her associate's degree in nursing from Miami-Dade Community College in 1985 and her Bachelor of Science degree from Florida International University in 1998.  She earned a Master of Science in health service administration from Nova Southeastern University in 2000.

Camps was recognized as an "accomplished professional" by the Hialeah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2006, received an "award of merit" in recognition of outstanding achievement from the City of Hialeah in 2006 and was presented with the "Tenet PresidentÕs Award" for exemplary service as a managerial employee in 2003.

Hialeah Hospital, part of Tenet's Miami-Dade Health Network, is a 378-bed acute care hospital located at 651 East 25th Street in Hialeah. The hospital has been serving the medical and health care needs of central to north Miami-Dade County since 1951.

Hialeah Hospital offers a broad range of health care services, including 24-hour emergency care, cardiology, neurosurgery, obstetrics, a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, laboratory, a surgical weight loss program that has been designated a Center of Excellence by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, a sleep disorders program, and a complement of imaging services.
