Aleman Named Hialeah CEO

Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC) today announced the appointment of Ralph A. Aleman as chief executive officer of Hialeah Hospital, a 378 bed acute care hospital located in Hialeah, Fla.

Aleman, 61, is an accomplished senior executive with more than 35 years of healthcare experience, the last six of which has been with Tenet.  He reports to Marsha Powers, senior vice president of operations for Tenet's Florida region.

"Ralph's experience managing hospitals in competitive and changing health care environments is a valuable asset," Powers said.  "He has a stellar reputation among physicians and employees, and I look forward to working with him in this new role to further contribute to Hialeah Hospital's growth.

Aleman most recently had served as vice president and market leader of Tenet's hospitals in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, a position he held since April 2006.  These eight hospitals were consolidated into the company's Florida Region in September 2007 when Powers joined Tenet.

Prior to that role, Aleman was chief executive officer of Tenet's Palmetto General Hospital, also in Hialeah, for five years.  Aleman joined Tenet from HCA  Hospital Corp. of America  where he served as chief operating officer of the company's South Florida division, as well as chief executive officer for several of the company's hospitals in South Florida.

From 1978 to 1985, Aleman was administrator of Southwest General Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.  Aleman has a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering from the University of Florida, Gainesville. He also holds a master's degree in business administration and health care administration degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. 

Aleman has been active in numerous South Florida community organizations, including the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society, and has served as trustee of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce.  He also has regularly contributed to the South Florida Hospital and Healthcare Association, United Way of Miami-Dade County, and the Federation of American Hospitals.
