MIAMI  — Hialeah Hospital, a 378-bed acute care facility, recently won the “Hospital of Choice Award,” designed to honor America's most customer-friendly hospitals, from the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers (AAHCP). Hialeah was one of 10 hospitals that won for the winter quarter.

“Hialeah Hospital is honored to be recognized as a Hospital of Choice,” said Ralph Aleman, CEO of Hialeah Hospital.  “We are committed to offering the highest quality of care possible to the many patients who entrust us with their healthcare needs, and this award is a testament to the dedication of our hospital’s physicians and staff.”

Each year AAHCP considers about 400 hospitals for this award. The decision is based on an extensive application process, and a secret review of the facility’s public communication and staff interaction with customers.

The process requires a review of six principal areas of consideration including: standards of conduct, performance management and improvement, staff development and training, systems of communication, good citizenship, and educational and promotional material available to consumers.

AAHCP believes The Hospital of Choice Award validates that a facility goes "above and beyond" to meet the needs of families, clinicians and managed care organizations seeking a healthcare partner. AAHCP is concerned with improving the quality and performance of the nation’s health care system.

The Hospital of Choice Awards offer a competitive advantage to a select group of winners by demonstrating their excellence in service delivery.
