Ralph A. Aleman, chief executive officer at Hialeah Hospital, recently announced the appointment of Steven Burghart as chief operating officer.
In this role, Burghart will oversee the day-to-day operations of the 378-bed acute care hospital.Burghart has more than 10 years of experience in healthcare administration. Prior to joining Hialeah Hospital, he served as associate administrator at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, where he was responsible for operations of key ancillary support departments as well as physician practices including neurosurgery, cardiology and psychiatry.
Burghart previously was corporate director of operations excellence for Tenet Healthcare Corporation and regional team leader of the company's Commitment to Quality (C2Q) and Target 100 quality initiatives. There, he worked with 11 of Tenet's medical centers in Florida and Alabama, including Hialeah Hospital, to develop and implement programs to increase the overall level of care provided to patients.

Burghart earned his Master's in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, in 1998 and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, in 1996. Burghart is an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and Medical Group Management Association.
He has served on several boards, including positions as vice president of Faith Hope Love & Charity's StanDown House, a rehabilitation center for homeless veterans, founding member and former treasurer of the Treasure Coast Healthcare Executive Network of ACHE and vice chair of the four-day community art festival, Jupiter ArtiGras.
